First Military Recruitment is seeking a full-time Plumbing Lecturer to join one of our renowned clients. You will be required to teach on a range of programmes, including NVQ Level 2, Diploma in Plumbing Levels 2 and 3 (City and Guilds/EAL Technical Certificate), and Level 1 units in Plumbing and Building Services Engineering.

You need to be qualified to Level 3 in Plumbing and have experience working in the Plumbing industry. Teaching or training experience within the subject area, good communication skills, and the ability to motivate and engage 16-18-year-old learners are essential. Support for career development in teaching is provided, including full funding for a Level 5 teacher training qualification if you do not already possess one.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full-time – 36 hours per week.
  • Teach a range of programmes in the relevant subject area.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and resource materials.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments, including tests, coursework, and exams, and set targets to maximize success.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly, including timely marking and providing feedback, both written and oral.
  • Integrate students’ basic skills development into teaching and learning.
  • Promote Equal Opportunities and implement the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Create a secure, safe, and friendly learning environment, including adherence to the College’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding Policies.
  • Understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation, embedding best practices in all activities.
  • Commit to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, demonstrating this commitment in all aspects of the role.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Plumbing or Heating (NVQ or C&G Advanced Craft).
  • Level 5 teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector (e.g., DET) or willingness to work towards one, supported by the College.
  • A1 assessor award or willingness to undertake one.
  • Experience in the plumbing industry.
  • Experience of teaching/training in the subject area.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the relevant subject area.
  • Ability to inspire vocational learners aged 16-19.
  • Good classroom practice.
  • Understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Safeguarding in an educational environment.
