First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to support a growing South East operation, carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a fleet of rental generators.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high levels of customer service while working both independently and alongside internal teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel generators.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs on rental generators, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess customer requirements and maintenance needs.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring company vehicles and work areas are clean, safe, and well organised.
  • Comply with company quality, environmental, energy management, and health & safety procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while building positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the success of the engineering team.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, Plant Maintenance, or a similar discipline (e. g.

City & Guilds or BTEC), or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.

  • Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets, particularly FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Previous experience in a field service engineering role is advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • ECS, CSCS or CCNSG card is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
