First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client, a global freight forwarding and logistics provider. Known for its innovation, advanced technology, and industry expertise, Metro supports clients across retail, manufacturing, and chemicals with air, ocean and road freight, as well as supply chain solutions. They are now looking for a proactive individual with strong ocean freight experience to join their Key Account team. In this role, you will support the management and growth of one of their largest customers, working closely with carriers, operations, and customers to ensure smooth operations and account development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support global distribution through strategic pricing planning.
- Build and enhance carrier and trade portfolios.
- Assist with RFQs (Request for Quotations) and pricing updates.
- Support spot quoting and follow-up.
- Provide input for carrier business reviews.
- Coordinate with operations on booking escalations and issue resolution.
- Prepare for customer business review meetings.
- Perform additional account-related tasks as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Strong background in ocean freight (knowledge of FCL, LCL, Roll-On/Roll-Off and Out-of-Gauge desirable).
- Good knowledge of the ocean carrier landscape.
- Solid understanding of global ocean market and trade lanes.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- IT proficient – MS Office essential; freight management software (e.g. CargoWise) desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work with urgency.
- Strong time management skills.
- Dangerous Goods (DG) Training advantageous.
