Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Joiner on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration. Hours will be variable between 32 – 48 hours per week as needed. Standard hours of work will be Monday – Friday 06:00 – 15:00 or 08:00 – 17:00, however, flexibility to work overtime and/or Saturdays as necessary is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Joiner:
- Construct and assemble timber moulds and formwork used in the production of precast concrete products.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and specifications to build accurate moulds and frameworks.
- Repair, maintain, and modify existing timber moulds and shuttering to ensure continued production efficiency.
- Cut, shape, and assemble timber and plywood components using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure moulds meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Carry out routine inspections of moulds and formwork to identify wear, damage, or required adjustments.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company quality standards and production schedules.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the workshop and manufacturing areas.
- Follow health and safety procedures when operating woodworking equipment and handling materials.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mould durability, production efficiency, and product quality.
- Support other workshop or production tasks when required to meet operational demands.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are stored correctly and maintained in good working order.
Skills and Qualifications for the Joiner:
- Joinery Qualification / Previous experience of working within a Joinery/mould-making team to achieve set targets, preparing moulds using correct materials to specification, tasks being carried out efficiently.
- Knowledge of H&S rules and procedures, experience of adhering to these.
- Health and Safety qualification would be beneficial e.g., CSR.
- Knowledge of quality standards and experience of applying these.
- Ability to read technical drawings is essential.
- Can demonstrate a positive approach for the team achieving the daily/weekly results for health & safety, quality, production etc.
- Clear communication skills as part of a team, discussing matters and reporting matters to the Line Manager when necessary.
