Overview
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit multiple HGV Vehicle Mechanics on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Ruislip depot.
Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair vehicle components and accessories, in line with company, client and/or manufacturer’s instructions, including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided
- Diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques, including road testing where deemed necessary
- Work in an efficient and productive manner, achieving the targets set out and agreed with Workshop Supervisors or Manager
- Operate a “Fix First Time” way of working ensuring quality of work is at the utmost standard and meets/exceeds any inspection carried out against it
- Drive in a manner within the parameters of the law
- Follow operator’s license process and procedure to safeguard the company’s license
- Observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure
- Identify recharge costs advising the Workshop Supervisor and correct completion of paperwork
- Order from the parts department all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work
- Interpret technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and/or computer files and data; implement by applying correct techniques
- Ensure the correct completion of all job-related documentation (job cards, parts orders, logbooks etc.) including job write-ups
- Report to Workshop Supervisor & Workshop Manager any specialist tooling requirements

- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and adhered to in accordance with Company requirements and regulations in force
- Ensure all processes and documentation meet and maintain ISO standards
- Maintain and co-ordinate quality procedure updates and processes in-line with the Group Quality manual
- Ensure at all times that equipment and tools are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damaged/faulty equipment to the Workshop Supervisor
- Use adequate protection for vehicles against damage or soiling by use of appropriate covers
- Keep working area in a clean and safe condition, dispose of displaced material, fluids, packaging etc. into receptacles provided
- Keep abreast of improvements and techniques to ensure all aspects of work meet departmental quality standards
- Take a pro-active role in the continuous improvement process applied to vehicle and operational equipment inspection, servicing and repair processes and associated documentation
- Use talent and ability to encourage achievement and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate safety, integrity and commitment at all times
- Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business
- Protect the information assets of the Company and always comply with the Company’s Information Assurance policies and procedures
- Work within established Company policies and procedures

Skills and Qualifications
- Full UK Class C1 driving licence
- Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs
- Knowledge of HGV/LGV technical specifications and maintenance requirements
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
- High degree of attention to detail
- An enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to actively seek solutions to problems
