First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Funeral Operative on behalf of one of our clients. The role involves driving and bearing on funerals with great respect and following clear instructions from the garage foreman and the funeral conductor. Responsibilities include:
- Driving and bearing on funerals.
- Removal of deceased from houses, nursing homes and mortuaries.
- Delivering and collecting coffins to and from airports.
- Duty service according to rota.
- Delivering and collecting various documents.
- Dressing deceased in preparation for viewing.
- Ensuring vehicles are cleaned daily and maintaining correct levels of oil, petrol, water, etc.
- For limousines, ensuring they have wreath card envelopes, mass envelopes, flowers, nursing home letters, and clean envelopes, as well as enough song sheets.
- For Greek funerals, taking a table, 2 towels, and 2 bottles of water.
- If using a horse hearse, ensuring you have trestles when going into the church or a trolley if a casket is used.
- Drivers must wear a cap and know the location of the church, house, or crematorium.
- Having a trolley, trestles, and if it’s a double funeral, 2 trolleys and trestles.
- Ensuring a sufficient number of shoulder pads are available and used at all times to carry the coffin.
- Checking before leaving the garage that appropriate attire is worn.
