Location: Cumbria
Salary: Β£75,000 + Β£5,000 Car Allowance
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Senior Site Engineer on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Cumbria depot.
/n
Duties and Responsibilities:
/n
/n
- Project Delivery & Site Coordination
/n
- Manage and coordinate all construction and engineering activities within your area of responsibility.
/n
- Lead, mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
/n
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and third-party stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works.
/n
- Plan and manage site activities in conjunction with construction and supervision teams.
/n
- Produce and maintain detailed rolling three-week look-ahead programmes.
/n
- Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where necessary.
/n
- Identify risks, constraints and opportunities that may impact project delivery.
/n
- Ensure all permits, task briefings, inductions and approvals are in place before works commence.
/n
- Support collaborative working across all project functions.
/n
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
/n
- Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs) to resolve design issues or incomplete information.
/n
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
/n
- Maintain detailed technical knowledge of your area of responsibility.
/n
- Provide engineering support to construction teams and subcontractors.
/n
- Support the development and implementation of temporary works solutions.
/n
- Ensure temporary works are installed, maintained and dismantled in accordance with approved designs and procedures.
/n
- Commercial & Resource Management
/n
- Identify material requirements and coordinate procurement activities.
/n
- Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment to support planned works.
/n
- Record actual material and resource usage against planned allocations.
/n
- Identify wastage, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
/n
- Maintain awareness of subcontractor scopes of work and monitor performance.
/n
- Identify and report changes, delays and variations to project and commercial teams.
/n
- Produce, manage and gain approval for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
/n
- Ensure all quality documentation and construction records are maintained accurately.
/n
- Monitor compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
/n
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
/n
- Support audits, inspections and assurance activities.
/n
- Promote a right-first-time culture across all site activities.
/n
- Promote the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.
/n
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, project procedures and company policies.
/n
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
/n
- Support risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
/n
- Ensure all personnel work in accordance with approved procedures and permits.
/n
- Actively contribute to a positive safety culture throughout the project.
/n
- Maintain accurate records of progress, resources, changes and site issues.
/n
- Contribute to project reporting and performance reviews.
/n
- Ensure project records are maintained within document control systems.
/n
- Provide progress updates to project management and commercial teams.
/n
- Support the preparation of project reports and performance data.
/n
/n
Skills and Experience:
/n
/n
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
/n
- Significant experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major construction or infrastructure projects.
/n
- Previous experience within the Nuclear sector is essential.
/n
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering principles.
/n
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.
/n
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
/n
- Knowledge of quality assurance procedures, inspection regimes and compliance requirements.
/n
- Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
/n
- Experience producing engineering documentation and project records.
/n
- Full UK Driving Licence.
/n
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
