Overview
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Site Services Team Leader on behalf of one of our clients. To deputise for the Site Services Senior Supervisor and provide technical support to the Site Services team. This includes overseeing the maintenance and operation of critical site infrastructure such as boilers, refrigeration, utility supplies, air compressors, air handling systems, pipework and effluent plant. The role also supports factory start-ups and ensures engineering standards are upheld. Our client encourages applications from ex‑military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the site services engineering team to ensure timely completion of job sheets and PPMs.
- Attend daily engineering meetings to report on site services KPIs and escalate issues.
- Maintain audit readiness and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environment and hygiene policies.
- Manage and close out equipment failures, work orders and PPM tasks.
- Record all parts usage and job completion.
- Take and log meter readings regularly.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in all plant rooms and associated areas.
- Develop and update engineering SSOWs and SOPs.
- Complete corrective maintenance sheets and ensure food safety standards are met.
- Monitor and manage contractor activities, including issuing permits and compliance checks.
- Audit tools and equipment, ensuring paperwork is completed and submitted.
- Monitor chiller temperatures in collaboration with the Site Services Manager.
- Promote teamwork across engineering and other departments.
- Respond promptly to issues to minimise downtime and maintain efficiency.
- Share knowledge and support team development.
- Apply risk assessment techniques to ensure safety of plant, equipment and personnel.
- Support a culture of safety, quality and environmental awareness.
- Maintain flexibility to adapt to shift patterns as required by the business.
- Ensure spare parts for Site Services assets are stocked and notify stores when reordering is needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- BOAS Qualification (Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme).
- Asbestos Awareness Certification.
- Familiarity with refrigeration plant operations.
- Proven ability to lead a small engineering team and manage daily operations.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles; experience in FMCG chilled environments preferred.
- Good aptitude in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Team-oriented, adaptable and self-motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to close out tasks and resolve issues effectively.
- Competent in IT systems; Holistech experience preferred.
- Proactive in personal development and learning.
- Willingness to attend training courses and engage in PDP processes.
