Overview
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Engineering Team Leader on behalf of one of our clients.
Hours: 42 hours charge 4 on 4 off days and nights 05:30 - 17:30 / 17:30 - 05:30.
Our client encourages applications from ex‑military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to a team of mechanical, electrical, multi-skilled and semi-skilled engineers.
- Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH regulations, and ensure all staff understand and adhere to their Health & Safety responsibilities when operating machinery.
- Support the training, development and assessment of staff in safe and effective machine operation.
- Work closely with visiting engineers and contractors to ensure agreed improvements and modifications are implemented effectively and deliver the intended business benefits.
- Ensure all equipment documentation is completed accurately and in full, and filed correctly or forwarded to the appropriate department.
- Prioritise and allocate work activities in the absence of the Shift Engineering Manager or Maintenance Manager.
- Identify, report and elaborate any faults or issues that may impact factory efficiency to the Shift Manager or Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure all work is carried out with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) used, and work permits are issued and signed off where required.
- Promote positive working behaviours and a professional team culture.
- Ensure engineering stores are appropriately stocked and controlled.
- Carry out required checks of the temperature monitoring system.
- Ensure utilities are used efficiently, minimising waste wherever possible.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental permit conditions, preventing any breaches.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to their training and experience, as requested by the Shift Manager or Maintenance Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be a Time/Skill-Served Fitter with 4 years Industrial Experience.
- Must have a mechanical/electrical aptitude.
- Must be able to diagnose and solve problems.
- IT Literate.
- The ability to make decisions is essential.
- The ability to organise time is essential.
- Showing initiative is essential.
- Good reasoning ability desirable.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Good communication skills are desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills are desirable.
- Experience of poultry processing machinery is desirable.
- Experience within a Food Processing Industry is desirable.
