Overview

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer – Electrical Bias on behalf of our client. This is a hands-on engineering role within a busy manufacturing environment, responsible for maintaining plant, machinery and site equipment through planned and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will ideally have an electrical engineering background, supported by good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills. The role operates on a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off shift pattern, meaning you will have approximately 182 days off per year – almost half the year. This makes the position particularly attractive for engineers looking for a strong work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems.
  • Maintain 3-phase motors, conveyors, boilers, bearings and associated plant.
  • Respond to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
  • Complete inspections, maintenance records and documentation.
  • Support production and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.

Requirements

  • Electrical bias with mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Electrical fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical/Engineering desirable.
  • PLC and automated systems experience desirable.
  • Manufacturing, FMCG or industrial experience desirable.
  • Armed Forces engineering experience welcomed.
