MB853: Mobile Vehicle Technician

Location: Croydon and surrounding area

Salary: £39,000 (£50,740 inc shift allowance and call outs)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with 3 shift patterns – Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm, 10am – 6pm and 2pm – 10pm (on call shift to include weekend on the 2pm – 10pm shift)

OverviewFirst Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit a Mobile Vehicle Technician on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Croydon depot.

As a Mobile Repair Technician, you\’ll be part of a team that plays a critical role in supporting the London Fire Brigade. You\’ll help ensure their fleet of over 460 vehicles and specialist equipment is always ready to respond making a real difference to public safety and emergency response across Greater London.

This is a dynamic and hands‐on role where your technical expertise will directly impact operational readiness. You\’ll work across a wide range of sites, diagnosing and repairing faults, improving reliability, and helping reduce in‐service defects. It\’s a career that offers variety, purpose, and the chance to grow your skills in a fast‐paced, high‐impact environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnosing faults and conducting vehicle testing using specialist equipment and techniques.

Maintaining your company vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and timely servicing.

Completing job documentation accurately, including post‐repair write‐ups and parts requisitions.

Identifying recharge cost instances and reporting them with supporting evidence.

Working across operational and training sites, performing manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and using tools.

Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience as a qualified motor vehicle technician.

Full UK driving licence (Category B essential; Category C desirable).

Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to fault resolution.

High attention to quality and safety.

Understanding of health and safety practices in workshop environments.

Ability to interpret technical documentation accurately.
