Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Night HGV Driver (Category C+E) on behalf of one of our clients. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, family-owned logistics business, operating modern vehicles and delivering exceptional service to customers across the UK. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service. Our client is particularly keen to hear from ex-military personnel; however, all suitably qualified candidates will be given due consideration. There are four full-time permanent positions available, all based in Melton Mowbray, offering an excellent work-life balance through a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely transport customer goods to designated delivery locations.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Comply with all Driver Hours, Tachograph, Road Traffic, and transport legislation.
- Complete all delivery paperwork and documentation accurately.
- Ensure loads are secured and transported safely.
- Maintain excellent customer service while representing the business professionally.
- Report any accidents, incidents, vehicle defects, or security concerns immediately.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Complete all required quality control and compliance documentation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Category C+E (Class 1) HGV Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately.
- Basic IT and PC literacy.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out operational duties.
- Able to work independently and meet delivery deadlines.
- Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious.
Pay & Shift pattern:
- £15.53 per hour night rate.
- 4 on, 4 off permanent shift pattern.
- Shift times: 17:45 – 05:45.
- 12-hour shifts (11.5 hours paid).
- Overtime available and paid at 1.33x from your normal start time.
- Only 187.5 working shifts per year, providing an excellent work-life balance.
