Overview: First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking Drilling Support Operatives to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and reliable individuals looking to build a long-term career within the engineering and ground investigation sector. Working alongside experienced Lead Drillers, you will provide essential on-site support across a variety of projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience through comprehensive in-house training and development. The role is physically demanding and suited to candidates who enjoy working outdoors, travelling, and being part of a close-knit team. Ex-military candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Driller with the safe and efficient delivery of drilling operations on client sites.
- Assist with the lifting, moving, loading and unloading of drilling equipment and associated materials.
- Prepare work areas and ensure equipment is readily available throughout each project.
- Carry out labour-intensive tasks while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
- Develop an understanding of drilling equipment and machinery through practical, hands-on experience.
- Assist with basic maintenance and fault-finding of equipment, reporting or resolving minor mechanical issues where appropriate.
- Represent the company professionally whilst interacting with clients on site and delivering excellent customer service.
- Work closely as part of a two-person team, with flexibility to support different Lead Drillers as required.
- Travel and work away from home during the week when required, with accommodation and meal allowances provided by the company.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling and labour-intensive duties.
- Mechanical or engineering experience, with confidence using tools and carrying out basic equipment maintenance.
- Previous engineering, construction, groundworks or similar practical experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Professional approach with the ability to build positive relationships with clients on site.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
- CSCS Card is beneficial, although training and certification can be provided.
- Previous drilling or ground investigation experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given.
