Overview: Our client provides a highly respected, safety-critical service to the global marine and shipping industry, supporting cruise liners, ferries, superyachts and commercial vessels across the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a motivated and professional Lifting Equipment Engineer to join their specialist inspection and testing team. Based from Cornwall, this is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys travel, independence, technical challenges and working in unique environments around the world.
This role involves examining, testing and inspecting ships' lifting plant and associated equipment to ensure full compliance with current legislation and industry standards. Engineers will travel extensively to ports throughout the UK and internationally, often spending periods working away from home aboard vessels. Ex-Military candidates and Service Leavers are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out examination, inspection and testing of ships' lifting plant and associated equipment
- Ensure all inspections are completed in line with current legislation and safety standards
- Produce accurate inspection reports and maintain records using the company management database
- Work independently across ports, dockyards and onboard vessels
- Travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail in safety-critical environments
- Deliver a professional and customer-focused service at all times
- Work safely and effectively in demanding marine environments
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within lifting equipment inspection, testing or engineering
- Minimum 2+ years' experience working with lifting equipment
- L.E.E.A qualifications (or equivalent) highly desirable
- Strong mechanical and/or engineering background
- Comfortable working independently and in remote environments
- Excellent organisational and IT skills
- Reliable, adaptable and self-motivated approach
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively and stay away from home regularly
- Ideally based within Cornwall or surrounding areas with reasonable access to an International Airport
