Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer on behalf of one of our clients who specialise in the design and manufacture of refrigeration equipment. Reporting to the Head of Technical, this role will involve managing the design team on a day-to-day basis and acting as the first point of contact, in order to ensure the smooth running of the department. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the workload of the design department in order to ensure that deadlines and budget constraints are met.
- Leading and mentoring a team of designers, providing guidance, feedback and support to foster professional growth.
- Coordinating with other departments, such as sales and marketing, customer support and production to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions.
- Ensuring all design outputs meet the company's quality standards and align with brand guidelines.
- Encouraging creativity and innovation within the team to develop unique and effective design solutions.
- Utilising various design tools and software to create and review designs.
- Communicating with stakeholders to understand their needs and incorporating their feedback into the design process.
- Contribute to long-term design strategies that align with the company's goals and market trends.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Robust knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD design software. (SolidWorks is essential).
- Previous experience in design to manufacture is essential.
- Hands on practical skills.
- Ability to work without supervision and deliver projects effectively and on time.
- Desirable: Minimum NVQ level 2 or other relevant refrigeration qualification.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
