Overview

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong problem-solving skills and experience across general building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor electrical works. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining premium office environments and supporting tenants across multiple managed sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of response for maintenance issues across managed office spaces
  • Carry out initial assessments, repairs, or recommend specialist contractors where required
  • Conduct regular site inspections and identify requirements for major repairs or remedial works
  • Attend sites during contractor visits and ensure all works are completed to company standards
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, leak repairs, changing taps, lock changes, tiling, painting, and decorating
  • Carry out minor electrical works and support with HVAC-related issues where required
  • Provide operational support during tenant move-ins, including mounting TVs, installing whiteboards, and general setup tasks
  • Undertake light carpentry duties such as building cabinets and minor joinery work
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety across all sites
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and tenants

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience within maintenance, facilities, or construction environments
  • Experience working on offices & commercial kitchens
  • Experience using hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems (desirable)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
  • Well-organised with strong attention to detail
  • Good awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Basic maths skills and practical troubleshooting ability
