Overview
First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Business Development Manager on behalf of one of our clients. Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier within the material handling sector and encourages applications from ex‑military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business generation, maximising growth opportunities, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets and KPIs across their assigned territory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve agreed annual sales targets across new, used, and material handling equipment
- Proactively generate new business opportunities through research, lead sourcing, and prospecting
- Manage pricing, margins, and product mix in line with agreed commercial objectives
- Plan and manage a personal sales portfolio within an assigned territory
- Demonstrate products and services to existing and prospective customers, supporting them in selecting appropriate solutions
- Build, develop, and maintain long‑term customer relationships, including post‑delivery follow‑up
- Accurately manage pipeline activity and sales reporting
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of sales processes and procedures
- Act as a positive ambassador for the business, demonstrating strong professional values at all times
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or account management
- Experience within the forklift or material handling sector is advantageous but not essential
- Strong commercial awareness and target‑driven mindset
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable generating new business
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- IT literate with experience using CRM systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
