First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Groundsperson on behalf of one of our clients. The role involves carrying out grounds maintenance, operating machinery and tractor driving as required. This will also involve attendance on racedays, including those that take place at weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To operate machinery and tractor drive as required.
- To assist in the preparation of all racing surfaces and course renovation after racing.
- To build and repair (maintenance) of hurdles and fences.
- To assist with the movement of the course running rail.
- To assist with mowing of all grass areas.
- To operate the irrigation system and water the track and other areas as instructed.
- To assist with the maintenance of non-grass areas inside perimeter fencing.
- To assist with the maintenance of car park areas, including drainage systems.
- To assist with the cleaning of outdoor areas as and when required.
- To assist with the preparation of planting schemes.
- To carry out general maintenance of machinery as required.
- To undertake such other duties as the Company may at times reasonably require.
Skills and Experience:
- The Job holder should have experience in general grounds maintenance and use of relevant machinery, including experience in tractor driving.
- Must hold a valid Full UK Driver’s License or equivalent.
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent - desirable.
- PA1/PA6 spraying pesticide certificates - desirable.
- Experience of operating irrigation equipment would be beneficial.
