Gardening Manager
Location: Hayes, UB3
Salary: Β£45,000βΒ£50,000 + Performance-Related Bonus
Type: Permanent - Full-time
Overview:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Gardening Manager to oversee a busy gardening and grounds maintenance department. The successful candidate will manage a team of around 45 operatives and 2 Supervisors, ensuring work is efficiently planned, delivered to a high standard, and completed safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Gardening Department and field-based teams.
- Support daily scheduling, dispatch and workload management.
- Lead and support Supervisors and operatives.
- Cover for the Operations Manager when required.
- Manage staff issues and escalate where necessary.
- Provide quotes for one-off jobs, grounds maintenance contracts and tree works.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure high-quality standards.
- Monitor and improve the performance and skills of field operatives.
- Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained.
- Manage client communications and maintain strong relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional services.
- Work alongside the Operations Manager to drive continual improvements.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in grounds maintenance.
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing teams in a similar environment.
- Good knowledge of plants, trees and garden machinery.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Good computer and email skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence.
