Role Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic, professional, and clinically curious Student Paramedics to join our Event Medical Team as First Responders. This role is designed to complement your academic training by providing supervised exposure to pre-hospital assessment, treatment, and decision-making in dynamic environments.

As a First Responder (Student Paramedic), you will work alongside other event medical staff, gaining hands-on experience while remaining within your scope of practice and level of training. You will be deployed across a variety of events including sporting fixtures, festivals, concerts, and community events, each presenting unique clinical and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties
  • Provide patient-centred care as part of a wider medical team.
  • Assist in patient assessments including history taking, vital signs, and physical observations.
  • Support the delivery of appropriate treatment and interventions in line with training and protocols.
  • Recognise and escalate deteriorating patients or complex presentations promptly.
  • Assist with patient handovers to ambulance services or other healthcare providers as required.
  • Work under the scope of a Student Paramedic, while under the supervision of a Healthcare Professional (Paramedic, Nurse, Doctor).
  • Operational Duties
  • Respond to medical incidents and emergencies as part of an event medical response team.
  • Assist in the set-up, operation, and debrief of event medical posts, treatment areas, and response vehicles.
  • Maintain readiness, cleanliness, and stock control of medical equipment and consumables.
  • Contribute to dynamic risk assessments and situational awareness during events.
  • Follow event-specific medical plans, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete patient care records, incident reports, and other clinical documentation.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and information governance requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and effective communication always.
  • Participate in team briefings, debriefs, and reflective learning opportunities.
  • Represent First Line Medical Ltd positively to patients, colleagues, and event stakeholders.

  • Scope of practice will be clearly defined in line with training level and company policy.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Currently enrolled on a BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree programme (Must have completed 1st Year).
  • Willingness to undertake internal FREC3 course, prior to operational deployment (This will be at a discounted staff price of £270 - Payment options available).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Good level of physical fitness, with the ability to work long shifts, including evenings, weekends, and outdoor events.
  • A strong commitment to high standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism.
  • Current and valid Full driving licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in event medical services, first aid provision, or healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with pre-hospital equipment, clinical observations, and patient documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical governance principles in pre-hospital care.
  • Current & Valid First Response Emergency Care Level 3 certification.
