Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and clinically competent Emergency Care Assistant (FREC 4) to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality pre-hospital emergency care, working collaboratively alongside paramedics and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Emergency Medical Care: Deliver safe and effective pre-hospital emergency care in line with FREC 4 competencies, responding to both trauma and medical emergencies.
- Patient Assessment and Triage: Perform initial patient assessments, record vital signs, and support triage decisions to prioritise care appropriately.
- Clinical Interventions: Provide treatments within scope of practice, including wound care, splinting, oxygen therapy, and immediate life support.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with paramedics, clinicians, and other emergency services to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Documentation: Accurately complete patient care records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with clinical governance and legal standards.
- Equipment and Vehicle Readiness: Ensure all vehicles and medical equipment are fully stocked, operational, and maintained to required standards.
- Patient and Family Communication: Communicate clearly, professionally, and compassionately with patients and their families, offering reassurance and explanations throughout care delivery.
- Compliance: Adhere to all clinical guidelines, health and safety requirements, and First Line Medical policies and procedures.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training, skills updates, and continuous professional development to maintain competency and certification.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- FREC 4 (Emergency Care Assistant) qualification or equivalent
- Experience in pre-hospital emergency care or a relevant clinical healthcare setting
- Ability to remain calm, effective, and professional under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
- Strong understanding of clinical protocols and safety standards
Desirable Criteria
- Additional emergency or advanced care qualifications
- Full UK Driving Licence
- C1 entitlement
- Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (L3CERAD)
- Previous experience within an emergency medical services team
- Knowledge of local healthcare pathways and transport logistics
- Experience with patient handling and transfer techniques
