SUMMARY

The Data Management Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of an Enterprise Data Management Program. Data management requires a diverse set of skills that include knowledge of the banking industry, information technology, analytic ability, as well as data warehouse architectural and technical expertise. This position is a key representative for the Data Governance and Management organization with enterprise business units and IT. This position also manages the data management staff in the data governance organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an Enterprise Data Management Program and strategy.
  • Works with IT leadership to monitor and ensure compliance with existing Company security policies.
  • Provides input on new data-related security policies and aids in creating new policies and standards.
  • Collaborates with all Enterprise Data & Analytics teams to ensure compliance with security policies and partners with the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team to ensure appropriate access to data.
  • Provides guidance and oversight on the design and maintenance of the master blueprints to guide integration, control data assets, and align activities with the business strategy.
  • Develops, implements, and continues compliance with reference and master data management best practices.
  • Develops and enforces integration and interoperability standards in partnership with Enterprise Architecture and development resources.
  • Contributes to all data storage, data operations, and underlying technology decisions.
  • Oversees the maintenance and development of all enterprise data models.
  • Works with IT and business unit resources to develop warehouse and business intelligence reporting standards.
  • Partners with business units to ensure well-defined data requirements guide the creation of data stores to facilitate reporting.
  • Provides oversight and partners with IT resources to ensure proper data requirement execution.
  • Oversees data stores for all core systems, whether those stores are contained within the First Interstate Bank (FIB) enterprise data warehouse (EDW), hosted internally in other systems, or hosted externally by a partner.
  • Contributes and creates strategic plans for the Enterprise Data Governance Program on metadata management, data quality standards, data architecture standards, data retention policies, and other data standards to include operational, management, analytics, and compliance.
  • Participates in the enterprise data governance council, data steward working groups, and other enterprise committees, as needed.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the recruitment and hiring process to attract and onboard top talent aligned with organizational needs.
  • Oversees the training and development to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Implements strategies to boost employee engagement and retention, creating a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provides performance coaching to employees, fostering continuous improvement and achievement of goals.
  • Performs personnel management responsibilities for a group of experienced professionals, distributed across multiple states, who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and internal customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree in a related field required.
  • 4-6 years related experience, training, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
