About the job?
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the role of the Multi Skilled Technician is responsible for all examination and maintenance tasks on the Various GWR Fleet units as well as Third Party Vehicles.Working to Train Vehicle Maintenance Instructions a clear focus on safety, team working, and service delivery are essential.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- To carry out Safety Critical and non-Safety Critical tasks in accordance with your competence on the varying Traction Type.
- Completing maintenance exams.
- Carrying out heavy component changes.
- Completing general Depot duties.
- Carry out maintenance activities, fault finding & rectification and defect reporting
- Attending out of course failures on the main line.
- Ensuring rail vehicles are safe to be moved after work has been completed in accordance with local procedures. Carrying out ‘Safety of Line\’ checks when required prior to the movement of rail vehicles
You\’ll need to be:
- Acutely aware of the required safety standards and aware of your responsibilities.
- Focused on the needs of our customers and the impact that the depot has on them.
- Able to read and decipher engineering schematic drawings.
- Ability to investigate, identify and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Flexible and willing to go the extra mile.
- Bought into 6S and developing new and improved ways of working.
- Prepared to work at other locations, outside of Exeter when required.
As a minimum you\’ll need to have:
- NVQ Level 3 or Apprentice trained in an Electrical/ Mechanical discipline (ideally both given the multi skilled requirement).
- Previous experience in Rolling Stock maintenance.
- Desirable to have completed NEBOSH/ IOSH training
- Desirable to have participated in Business Improvement Training (BIT).
