Do you want to be part of our dedicated team of mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses across Glasgow? We’re looking for skilled and forward-thinking people to join our busy Engineering teams across our Glasgow depots. We offer technical up-skilling and career progression, we will also provide your PPE and basic tools you’ll need to succeed in your role, as well as a competitive hourly rate and great rewards & benefits.

We are looking for NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Engineers – preferably in heavy vehicle or PSV mechanical maintenance, however we also welcome applications from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities as a Skilled Engineer with First Bus:

  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
  • Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair
  • Diagnose vehicle electrical faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used (in Electrician role)

  • Available Positions: PSV/HGV Mechanic, Auto Electrician
  • Working Hours: 38 hours per week, varying shifts available - nights, days, backshift – we’re happy to discuss a pattern that works for both the depot and you at the screening stage
  • Locations: Glasgow Caledonia Depot – 100 Cathcart Road G42 7BH, Glasgow; Scotstoun Depot - 1073 South Street G14 0AQ
  • Pay Rate: Dayshift £20.50, nightshift £22.91

About You:

  • Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred?
  • Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi-skill?
  • Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this.
