The Role
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Bus Compliance Manager to join our team. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring our operational, regulatory, and safety standards are consistently met across the business. Working closely with senior management, you'll play a key role in shaping, maintaining, and improving policies and procedures to ensure we deliver a first-class service to our customers while meeting all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Governance: Maintain and improve policies and procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting internal and external audits
- Driver & Training Compliance: Oversee driver inductions, training, and CPC compliance, ensuring teams are fully competent and aligned to standards
- Licensing & Background Checks: Manage driving licence, DBS, and safeguarding requirements, ensuring records remain valid and up to date
- Operational Compliance: Monitor and audit operational processes, including driver checks, testing, and system usage
- Tachograph & Driver Hours: Lead tachograph compliance, including data downloads, analysis, and investigation of infringements
- Risk Management: Drive risk assessment processes across H&S, operations, and routes to ensure safe and compliant practices
- Operator Licence & Fleet Compliance: Manage the Operator's Licence, fleet records, and vehicle lifecycle compliance
- Procurement: Oversee procurement of contracted services and ensure compliance with relevant platforms and processes
About You
- Proven experience in a similar role in a transport or logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of driver scheduling, driver hours regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience using tachograph analysis systems
- Knowledge of risk management processes within a commercial setting
- Understanding of data protection requirements
- Transport Manager CPC (or willingness to work towards it)
- A current PCV licence (or willingness to work towards one)
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a Bus or Coach company
- Experience delivering training programmes
- Knowledge of formal risk assessment methodologies
- IOSH / NEBOSH (or equivalent)
