Role Overview: In this Workshop Manager role at First Bus Bristol - Lawrence Hill, you will be responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of the vehicle fleet to ensure availability, and maintaining the highest standards of vehicle reliability to provide an exceptional service to our customers. The role also involves offering strong leadership, fostering staff development, and motivating the substantial engineering team, while collaborating with supervisory teams to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure inspections are planned within the required timescales
- Manage the workload for supervisors and workshop staff
- Work within health and safety regulations
- Ensure all engineering personnel within the Workshop are working within H&S regulations
- Ensure an effective working relationship with staff
- Ensure Computerised maintenance management systems are up to date and correctly used
- Manage the workload for third party labour
- Carry out any other duties that may be deemed suitable by the engineering manager
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:
- PSV/HGV Vehicle maintenance experience with appropriate qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds etc)
- Supervisory experience is essential
- Knowledge of DVSA standards
- Driving licence is essential, PSV licence would be advantageous, if not the ability to obtain must be shown
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:
- Champion behavioural change through BeSafe, ensuring that you and your team have positively reinforced safety conversations
- At all times, comply with your responsibilities within the Health and Safety Policy, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Ensure that risk assessments are carried out for areas and activities under the role holder's control, that appropriate control measures are implemented and the recommendations are communicated to all of those who may be at risk
- Report incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences in a timely manner and ensure effective remedial action is taken
- Promote and implement, where appropriate, safe working practices by means of campaigns, initiatives and promote a positive attitude to safety through personal leadership
- Support the Company's environmental campaigns and be aware of FirstGroup annual environmental targets
