Bus Mechanic – Responsible for diagnosing & repairing buses in Caledonia Depot, Glasgow.
Location: Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, G42 7BH.
Contract: Permanent, 37 hours per week (overtime available).
Shifts: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.
Pay: £20.50 per hour plus bonuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
- Identify vehicle faults and specify appropriate repair methods and parts.
- Carry out routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
- Attend on‑road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries when required.
- Conduct vehicle road testing to identify defects following remedial repair.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred.
- Flexible approach to work with ability to multi‑skill.
- UK driving licence holder; PCV licence desirable (training available).
Experience: Bus mechanics, HGV experience, light vehicle mechanics, ex‑forces with engineering apprenticeship or engineers from other sectors seeking change. Willingness to use handheld data capture devices.
