First for Education is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Dawley, Telford, supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD and challenging behaviour. This full‑time, long‑term position involves working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication and personal development. The school caters to pupils with a focus on SEMH and ADHD, providing a highly supportive environment, experienced staff and access to specialist training. SEN Teaching Assistant Role Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting or working with pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD and typically challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication, patience and resilience
- Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- A proactive and adaptable approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
As part of our registration process, you will need an enhanced DBS check and a copy of your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
The Successful SEN Teaching Assistant Will
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist with both learning activities and personal development
- Support pupils with communication, behaviour and engagement
- Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
