First for Education seeks a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Dudley. The candidate will support pupils with a range of additional needs, providing a highly supportive environment with experienced staff and specialist training.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD
  • Strong communication, patience and resilience
  • Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
  • Willingness to support with personal care if required (training provided)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist with learning activities and personal development
  • Support pupils with communication, behaviour and engagement
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
