About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEND Teacher to join our Pupil Referral Unit. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities, often alongside social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will play a vital role in re-engaging learners with education, helping them develop both academically and personally in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Support pupils with a range of SEND, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and progress
  • Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour and learning
  • Work closely with support staff, therapists, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCPs, reviews, and personalised learning plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEND pupils, ideally within a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
  • A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a sense of humour!
