The Material Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient planning, control and flow of materials across the business. Responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels and supporting production requirements, the successful candidate will ensure materials are available when needed while balancing stock investment and operational efficiency.

This role will lead the development and continuous improvement of material planning processes, inventory controls and reporting systems, whilst supporting the ongoing enhancement of SAP and MRP capabilities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the MRP system to ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
  • Plan, monitor and control inventory levels, balancing material availability with stock investment, waste reduction and obsolescence management.
  • Raise, manage and track purchase orders, monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve material shortages or delivery delays.
  • Develop accurate material forecasts based on production plans, sales demand and operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and support stock control activities through regular analysis, audits and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Transport, Depots, Production and Suppliers to ensure the seamless flow of materials throughout the business.
  • Monitor and report on key inventory, material usage and operational KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on stock accuracy, inventory optimisation and operational efficiency.
  • Support SAP planning functionality, data integrity and future MRP development projects.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices within materials management and supply chain operations.
