Salary: £35,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 08:00-17:00

Location: Swadlincote, DE11 8EA

This position is a fixed term position to cover Maternity Leave.

Position

This is a dynamic and hands-on role that sits at the core of our finance operations, offering a fantastic opportunity to gain broad exposure across a wide range of accounting functions. You will be a crucial support to the finance team, ensuring the smooth running of our daily, monthly, and quarterly financial processes.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly & quarterly VAT returns
  • CIS returns
  • Payments to suppliers into SAP and onto bank for approval
  • Providing support to the finance team Accounts Payable & Credit Control
  • Managing of team absences
  • Covering the Accounts Payable & Credit Control positions during any absences & holidays
  • Support on customer account queries
  • Weekly meeting with Credit Control regarding overdue debtors
  • Weekly meeting with Accounts Payable regarding overdue creditors
  • Analysis and posting of business credit card costs
  • Raise intercompany invoices for costs and reconciling intercompany balances
  • Upkeep of company fixed asset registers and posting of depreciation into SAP
  • Assisting Finance Director on month end tasks such as prepayments, accruals, bank reconciliations etc
  • Covering the Finance Director on specific tasks such as cashflow during any absences & holidays

Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to understand business drivers.
  • Proven excellent bookkeeping skills.
  • Enthusiastic and positive approach to work.
  • Clear and professional telephone manner.
  • Confident and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (or equivalent ERP system).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Adaptable and able to respond positively to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Highly self-motivated with a drive for results.
  • Ambitious with a desire for professional development and progression.
