Position

Are you passionate about bringing great ideas to life? We are looking for an analytical and forward‑thinking professional to champion our new product pipeline. In this role you will be the bridge between initial concepts and successful market launches, ensuring our business continues to innovate and meet our customers' evolving needs.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping Our Product Future
    • Product Strategy: Take the lead in our fortnightly product strategy meetings, presenting your insights on New Product Requests (NPRs) and guiding the team with clear, evidence‑based recommendations on which ideas to advance, pause or reconsider.
    • Driving the Roadmap: Curate the company’s product roadmap, ensuring all approved new ranges are integrated into our pipeline with realistic, achievable timescales.
  • Discovering What Works (Research & Validation)
    • Market Insight: Keep your finger on the pulse of emerging trends, working closely with our sales team to analyse 'lost sales' and identify real market gaps and opportunities.
    • Sizing the Opportunity: Discover the true potential of a product (TAM) through hands‑on research, including engaging phone calls and face‑to‑face meetings with our target market.
    • Commercial Feasibility: Produce concise, data‑led overviews that highlight the expected Return on Investment (ROI) for new concepts.
    • Competitive Edge: Benchmark proposed products against existing offerings, examining pricing, quality and our Unique Selling Propositions (USPs).
    • Smart Forecasting: Develop grounded sales forecasts and volume predictions to guide our purchasing and manufacturing teams.
    • Compliance & Safety: Ensure prospective products meet all relevant UK building regulations, health and safety standards and material certifications such as BS EN standards for steel and fencing.
    • Sustainability Focus: Assess the environmental impact and sourcing viability of new materials, aligning with the construction industry's shift toward sustainability.
  • Bringing Products to Life (Commercialisation)
    • Seamless Launches: Work closely with our Website Product Administrator to create engaging, highly detailed handover packs.
    • Data Curation: Compile all vital commercial details – accurate costings, proposed sales prices, cross‑selling opportunities and product variants.
    • Technical Support: Provide the robust technical information needed for specification sheets and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Learning & Growing (Post‑Launch)
    • Continuous Improvement: Run comprehensive post‑launch reviews to assess new product performance against initial sales and margin forecasts.
    • Actionable Reporting: Share fortnightly product reports with key stakeholders to celebrate wins, spot shifting market trends and refine forecasting frameworks.

Requirements

  • Your Experience: A strong track record in a commercial research or product development role, with a passion for using data to tell a story and make confident decisions.
  • Industry Knowledge: A basic understanding of technical metal, steel or construction products is a bonus. Training will be provided for the right person.
  • On the Move: Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to trade shows, industry events and client meetings to gather fresh, on‑the‑ground intelligence.
  • Your Approach: Naturally curious, highly analytical and commercially astute, unafraid to constructively challenge the status quo, and thriving both independently and with cross‑functional teams.

Benefits

  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Discounts and Cash Back Benefits Platform
  • Holistic Wellbeing Platform
  • 24/7 Employee Assist Programme
