This role is for Investment Managers to cover the East of England or the East Midlands. Substantial travel in the region is required.

Job description

First Enterprise – Enterprise Loans (FE-EL) is a Not-for-Profit organisation that addresses economic regeneration by providing loans and business support to Small to Medium sized businesses that are unable to raise finance from traditional mainstream sources.

Our government-backed loans and related services help to strengthen enterprises, create employment, and contribute to the economic revitalisation of the communities we serve. Over the past 30 years, we\’ve provided over £46m of loans to 3593 businesses, creating 3238 new jobs and helped 1556 entrepreneurs start up their own business.

As part of our ongoing growth strategy, an opportunity has arisen for a Relationship Manager based in our Nottingham office, with travel across the East and Southeast Midlands region.

Main Duties

  1. Explain the loan application process in detail and coach applicants on what documents and information they will need to submit.
  2. Assist clients with developing thorough business plans, financial forecasts, and other supporting documents required as part of the application.
  3. Analyse applicants\’ business proposals and plans to conduct due diligence as per company credit policy guidelines.
  4. Prepare written recommendations and reports on loan applicants for the Credit Assessor to evaluate.
  5. Follow up with applicants to request any missing documentation and information needed before submitting their full application.
  6. Develop relationships with prospective small business customers and source new lending opportunities.
  7. Conduct meetings with potential borrowers to understand their financing needs and promote our lending solutions.
  8. Prepare and deliver sales presentations to small business owners.
  9. Oversee the client onboarding process including loan applications and securing required documentation.
  10. Manage an ongoing portfolio of small business lending clients, maintaining frequent contact and maximising repeat lending opportunities.
  11. Find and nurture relationships with introducers such as loan brokers who can refer small business clients.
  12. Attend networking events to connect with the local small business community.
  13. Signpost customers to relevant external organisations.

The role is targeted, and Investment Managers will be expected to achieve a minimum amount of loan approvals per month. A quarterly bonus is paid upon achieving approval targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  1. Proven business lending experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Analysis of business proposals.
  2. Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
  3. Capacity to learn quickly and execute accurately.
  4. Ability to build relationships.
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Excel.
