Location: Ipswich, IP4 1AD

Working Hours: 39 hours per week – 5 days over 7, rotating schedule of 07:00-15:00 one week then 12:00-20:00 the next week

Compensation: Hourly rate £20.12 with a weekend premium of £21.14 per hour. Approximate annual salary £40,803.

About the Role: Our engineering team at Ipswich needs a skilled PSV/HGV Engineer to repair and maintain our fleet of buses. The role involves diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults, performing routine inspections and servicing, and attending roadside breakdowns. Support for technical up‑skilling, PPE, and basic tools is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults, servicing, and replacing parts as needed
  • Identifying issues accurately and recommending the correct method of repair and parts required
  • Performing routine inspections and servicing using handheld data capture devices (where applicable)
  • Attending roadside breakdowns and supporting vehicle recoveries

Qualifications:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in vehicle mechanics
  • Valid UK driver licence
  • Desirable: PCV licence; applicants must be able to obtain a PCV licence – assistance will be provided
  • Experience working with buses and coaches is advantageous but any vehicle mechanic experience will be considered
