Our client is looking for interim support for a 6-12 month period whilst the role is re-evaluated following a recent retirement before looking to substantively recruit into the position in the latter stages of 2024. The post will be banded at AfC Band 8C level.
Job Purpose / Responsibilities:
- Be fully accountable for the operational performance of the Division. This will include accountability for the delivery of a high quality patient focused service with clinical safety, clinical governance, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.
- Have responsibility with the Divisional Clinical Lead and members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction.
- Act as the lead Manager for the Division, and driver of a strategically important network in the wider health economy, working in partnership with other stakeholder organisations to promote and develop strategic vision and business interests.
- To be responsible for scientific, laboratory operational management of the Cellular Pathology service.
- Deliver an autonomous clinical technical service across all laboratory sites and as provided by Service Level Agreement or contract with other organisations.
- Work as a key member of the Senior Management Team, who are responsible for the effective operational management and strategic direction of pathology services.
- Ensure the operational area contributes to and meets objectives including working within agreed budget and delivering cost improvement savings.
- Promote the continuous improvement in service delivery and quality within all areas of Pathology, using modern methods to lead in the delivery of service and workforce transformation and re-design.
- Manage the work of senior staff in the operational area and develop a high performing culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services.
