A busy and ambitious educational trust is seeking a Human Resources Officer to support HR operations across two academy sites. This is a great opportunity for an organised, proactive HR professional looking to take ownership of core HR processes within a supportive team. The successful candidate will be the sole HR Officer, so practical HR experience is essential. CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 is desirable, but hands-on experience is more important. Full training on internal policies, procedures and systems will be provided. The trust is committed to safeguarding children; all appointments are subject to enhanced DBS and health checks.

HR Officer - Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records (EDUPAY).
  • Support employee relations processes (disciplinary, grievance, probation, performance).
  • Prepare and update employee contract documentation.
  • Implement HR policies including conduct, sickness, absence and recruitment.
  • Maintain recruitment documentation and administer starter/leaver processes.
  • Support onboarding in line with Safer Recruitment requirements.

HR Officer - Hours

  • You will work 41 weeks in Term Time and 2 Weeks outside of term time per year. Working Hours are 37 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Fridays 8am-3.30pm. Based on the actual salary of £27,938 and 37 hours a week for 41 weeks in term time and 2 weeks outside of term time, it works out at £17.56 per hour, plus you get the big benefit of only working 43 weeks a year!

HR Officer - Requirements

  • 5 or more GCSE (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English
  • CIPD 3 or similar qualification in HR
  • Experience of HR functions within a large organisation
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Knowledge and experience of using Information Systems (MIS) in education or another environment
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of spreadsheets
  • Calm, professional and confident dealing with people at all levels.
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and work independently.
