Assembly Line Hours

  • Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm
  • Hours: Friday 7.30am to 1.00pm
  • Hours: 37.5 per week worked plus occasional overtime

Assembly Line Responsibilities

  • As the Assembly Technician you will report to the Production Manager.
  • After training, you will build and test a range of mechanical and electrical sub-systems and full build of scientific products.
  • Chamber and condenser assembly, including gassing/evacuation and brazing
  • Low level fault diagnoses and correction
  • Highlighting any defaults with items received from outside contractors / suppliers
  • or other departments.
  • Movement of materials / products.
  • You will follow quality procedures and QMS (ISO9001).
  • You will need to work in a timely manner as per production times.

Assembly Line – Essential Requirements

  • To live within a reasonable distance of Ipswich.
  • Your own transport due to the location.
  • Physically fit, practical person, who can build/create using their hands.
  • Computer literate on Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook Email.
  • Able to write and communicate clearly in English.
  • Practical knowledge of production manufacturing industry
  • Excellent eye for detail and quality awareness
  • Team player with ability to work with and motivate fellow colleagues
  • Capable of multi-tasking with the ability of flexible thinking
  • Able to wear required safety shoes on the shop floor.
  • Able to follow all Health & Safety, PPE and ESD procedures.

Assembly Line – Not Essential but Ideal Experience

  • Experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment
  • Machine shop experience, including the reading of mechanical drawings
  • Brazing and soldering skills.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work including Manual handling techniques.
  • Time served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
  • ONC, C&G, NVQ (or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline
