We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to work for a leading transport and distribution organization based in Wigan (WN4). Monday to Friday 10am-7pm. Salary band £26,000-£32,000. 31 days holidays to start with and other great benefits on offer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Execution of Day 2 transport planning.
  • Planning customer deliveries and collections with various sizes of vehicles from Class 1 to multidrop vans.
  • Vehicle planning, creation of manifests, briefing and coordinating drivers.
  • Same day/Next Day/Freight cargoes.
  • Coordinate and provide support and information in the running of a safe and efficient operation.
  • Working with clear guidelines to help achieve the operational standards and defined outcomes.
  • Liaising with customer services department regarding live issues and troubleshooting.
  • Daily reporting to Management.

Requirements:

  • Transport planning experience is ESSENTIAL.
  • Fluency in transport legislation i.e. drivers hours, WTD and others.
  • Good geographical knowledge to optimize planning routes.
  • Confident working independently.
  • IT Literate, with transport planning systems & Microsoft Office packages.
  • Able to communicate at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Commercially minded i.e. cost savings, increasing revenues, identify and seize opportunities.
