We are working with a small/medium freight forwarder who are looking to recruit a Sales/Commercial Pricing/Quotation Operative. Our client is looking for vast experience in Sales/ Pricing / Quotations within Freight Forwarding. This role is office based, other than visiting customers to gain business, hence Car Driver needed.

Sales/Pricing and Quotation role drives business profitability and win rates by analysing market data, calculating production costs, and preparing competitive, accurate client proposals. Professionals in this function act as a critical bridge between sales, product management, and supply chain teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quote Preparation: Review Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and collaborate with internal departments to generate accurate, timely, and competitive proposals.
  • Pricing Strategy & Analytics: Build financial models, assess cost margins, and establish pricing tiers (e.g., list prices, discount thresholds, promotional pricing) to maximize gross profit.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Sales, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that quoted costs align with current product specifications, material availability, and delivery timelines.
  • Market Monitoring: Continuously track competitor pricing, industry trends, and market demand to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Data & Pipeline Management: Track and monitor the status of outstanding quotes to maximize conversion rates, update rate sheets, and process approved price changes into the system.
  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Source new sales opportunities through outbound cold calls, emails, and strategic networking.
  • Consultative Selling: Assess client pain points and demonstrate how company products or services provide a solution.
  • Account Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for upselling.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle invoice discrepancies, pricing disputes, and vendor queries to ensure billing accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Typically requires at least a GCSE level education with A-Level preferred or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a pricing, quoting, sales support, or financial analysis role within Freight Forwarding, as required for the role.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis, data mining, and building financial/pricing models in Excel or Quotation software.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills to articulate pricing strategies to stakeholders and negotiate or clarify requirements with clients.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when calculating costs, margins, and taxes to prevent financial losses from incorrect quotes.
  • Proven Experience: A track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional active listening, persuasion, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of market trends, competitive positioning, and the sales cycle.

Monday to Friday 8-5pm or 9-6PM. Car Driver required for the role. Salary Depends on experience. Commission paid approx 10% on gross profits after hitting target. If you have not heard from us within 7 days, then your application has been unsuccessful.
