Operations Manager - Freight Forwarding
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a well-established, professional small to medium-sized freight forwarding agent.
We are looking for an experienced freight professional with a strong operational background, particularly within Road Freight, together with a good understanding of Air and Ocean freight.
Role will be managing a team of around 8 operational staff plus 2-3 warehouse operatives
This is a hands-on role within a friendly and professional business, where you will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the operation and have the opportunity to make a real impact.
The Role
· Managing the day-to-day freight operations across Road, Air and Ocean
· Taking responsibility for the smooth movement of shipments from start to finish.
· Managing bookings, documentation and shipment updates.
· Liaising with customers, suppliers, hauliers and overseas agents.
· Ensuring shipments are managed efficiently and delivered within agreed timescales.
· Dealing with any operational issues and providing effective solutions.
· Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
· Working closely with the wider team to ensure a high level of customer service.
About You
· The ideal candidate will have:
· Strong operational experience within freight forwarding/logistics.
· A solid background in Road Freight.
· A good working understanding of Air and Ocean freight.
· Excellent communication and organisational skills.
· The ability to work independently and take ownership of shipments.
· A customer-focused and proactive approach.
· Good knowledge of import/export procedures and freight documentation.
· Experience working within a freight forwarding environment.
