First Choice are currently recruiting an Estates Operations Officer, to work within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust at various locations within the trust, such as Ulster Hospital, Ards Hospital and Lagan Valley Hospital. This is a full-time, temporary position, working Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Pay rate: £19.78 per hour. The successful candidate will be required to work between multiple sites within the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, and therefore must hold a valid UK driver's license.

Main duties of this role will be to:

  • Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of estates maintenance services across a diverse healthcare estate, ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Lead and supervise multidisciplinary estates teams and specialist contractors, ensuring work is completed to agreed quality standards, timescales, and statutory requirements.
  • Plan, prioritise, and coordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and minor works programmes to minimise disruption to clinical services.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, NHS estate standards, and statutory regulations, including fire safety, water hygiene, electrical safety, asbestos management, and medical gas systems where applicable.
  • Monitor contractor performance through service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and quality audits, ensuring value for money and continuous service improvement.
  • Provide operational leadership during estates-related incidents, service interruptions, and emergency situations, coordinating appropriate responses to maintain business continuity.

What We Need From You:

  • Degree in relevant Engineering related subject plus 2 years experience in a similar role or a HNC or equivalent in an engineering related subject together with 4 years experience in a similar role.
  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English.
  • Full UK Drivers License.
