We are currently recruiting a Biomedical Scientist for an immediate start based in the Pathology Department at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry/Londonderry. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated laboratory team, playing a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that directly support patient care across the Trust. This is a temporary ongoing position, initially for 3 months, with the potential for extension based on service requirements. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (flexible work times) with a pay rate of £19.78 (Band 6).
Your Role:
- Prepare and process patient and research samples for analysis
- Perform diagnostic testing using specialised laboratory equipment
- Analyse, interpret, and accurately record laboratory results
- Carry out quality control procedures and maintain laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, and laboratory standards
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and laboratory colleagues to support high-quality patient care
What We Need From You:
- Degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification
- Registration with the HCPC (or eligibility to register)
- 12 years post-graduate clinical experience, within a pathology setting is desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
