We are currently seeking a Cook for Mid-Ulster Hospital, Magherafelt. This position is 30 hours per week, working a shift pattern of either 7am to 3pm or 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The pay rate is £12.75 per hour. This is a temporary position for three months, with the potential to become permanent. Please note, there may be a requirement to work the occasional weekend, approximately 1 weekend in every 3 weeks. Weekend rates apply, with Saturday shifts paid at £17.22 per hour and Sunday shifts paid at £21.55 per hour.

The successful candidate will support catering services in a busy hospital restaurant. Each day, you will work alongside a patient cook, restaurant cook, and a supportive team of catering assistants.

The main duties of this role include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals in line with menu plans and dietary requirements, ensuring high standards and full compliance with hygiene regulations.
  • Receiving, storing, rotating, and serving food safely, maintaining correct temperatures at all times.
  • Monitoring stock levels, assisting with ordering and stock rotation, and minimising waste.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and service areas, including equipment and work surfaces.
  • Recording and reporting key information such as temperature checks, portion control, equipment faults, and service data.

  • Hands-on experience in food preparation and cooking.
  • Knowledge of CoSHH regulations.
  • Willingness to complete an AccessNI check.
