First Choice are currently recruiting a Switch Board Operator on behalf of the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, to work at their Ulster Hospital Dundonald Site. This is a full time role, initially required for 3 months, with the possibility of extension. Hours of work for this position will be based on a weekly Monday - Sunday rota, shift patterns will be: 8am - 4pm, 2pm - 10pm.

Pay rate:

  • £12.75 Per Hour M - F
  • £17.22 Per Hour Saturday
  • £21.55 Per Hour Sunday

The successful candidate must demonstrate full flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and rotational shifts. They should possess excellent communication and resilience skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of incoming calls in a fast-paced environment, including responding calmly and professionally to callers experiencing distress.

Main duties:

  • Manage a high-volume multi-line switchboard, accurately routing internal and external calls across multiple hospital and community healthcare sites.
  • Provide a professional first point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, and external agencies, delivering excellent customer service at all times.
  • Respond promptly to emergency and priority calls, following established escalation procedures to support critical incidents.
  • Operate telecommunications systems, paging equipment, and emergency bleep services to ensure timely communication across clinical and non-clinical departments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with NHS information governance and data protection policies.
