Due to the high demand in filtration media/paper-based manufacturing, our well-established client is looking for a Slitter to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within paper-based manufacturing, have a good work ethic and be happy to work on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. This role is physically demanding so candidates will need to be fit and strong.
This role offers excellent benefits and training. Due to the rural location on the outskirts of Bishops Cleeve, own transport is essential.
Key Tasks:- Receiving/interpreting orders and calculating reel widths. Ensuring correct reels/packaging materials are to hand.
- Loading reels on to the slitters, threading paper through, calculating/setting up knife bars, making the necessary adjustments, checking/rechecking the set ups and then operating the slitters. Watching for/correcting faults and reporting any problems to the Finishing Manager.
- Running small orders together to avoid wastage, operating trim/dust extractor units, and ensuring samples/sample coils are taken when necessary.
- Removing coils, recording details, marking coils (manually or stamp) and passing them for packing.
- Assisting with reel upending, stencil cutting, centre cutting, printing machine, circular saw and computer input when required.
- Training operators and controlling their activities, checking that coils etc., are correctly marked/packed and records are accurate.
- Carrying out minor maintenance, keeping area clean and tidy, ensuring dust/trim bags are removed/replaced, assisting with packing, baling waste as necessary.
- Salary band of £38,547 – £39,879 depending on experience.
- 4 on 4 off fixed shift (2 days (6am-6pm) and 2 nights (6pm-6am) followed by 4 days off).
- 42-hour week based on an average calculation over the full year.
- 25 days holiday + Bank holidays (based on the 42-hour average working week).
- July and Christmas shutdown.
- Overtime rates – 1.5x pay Monday-Saturday, 2x pay Sunday.
- Paid breaks.
- Company Pension contribution of up to 8%.
