Buyer & Product Developer (12-month contract) First Choice Recruitment are very pleased to be supporting our award-winning client with their recruitment for an experienced Buyer & Product Developer to cover maternity leave within a dynamic team. The company specialise in supplying tableware and homewares working with some of the UK’s largest retailers so experience or a keen interest in this type of product is required. This is an interesting opportunity as the company has experienced strong growth and have new exciting clients and product ranges to work with and develop. Initially this role is a 12 month maternity leave contract. The post holder will work from our temporary offices in Evesham until permanent offices are secured in the Evesham/Worcester area. Key Duties: Working in partnership with key national accounts, senior buying, design team and customers collaboratively, key responsibilities include: * Creating exciting new product ranges – tableware and homewares * Completing regular range reviews, refining product offering based on customer feedback, sales & trends. * Able to analyse complex data to drive decisions and strategies. * Drive the creative process from initial conception to end product, creating & maintaining the customer’s vision. * Analyse quotes & confidently negotiate pricing with suppliers. * Critical path management, ensuring all key dates are adhered to. * Liaising closely with the design team on writing new briefs & packaging specifications. * Sample review & management, including tracking, unpacking/packing & sending to customers. * Working with the Far East sourcing team and UK warehouse to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders. * Work closely with a Buyer’s Admin Assistant, including management & coaching. Skills/Experience * Proven experience within a product development or buying team & managing junior members of the team. * Ability to demonstrate strong Excel skills & high-level proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs, including stock management software & systems. * Strong communications skills; accomplished at discussing finances, budgets & costs. * Understanding of critical paths, seasonal range development and awareness of trends & competitor activity to make insightful buying decisions. * Able to provide ad-hoc reports & analysis, supporting the maintenance of accurate product data * Where required supporting UK trade shows & prepared to travel throughout the UK & overseas.
