Multi Skilled Plumber to join our Property Services team and help us deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services for our customers.

As part of delivering our void service, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our homes by delivering a wide range of plumbing repairs alongside multi-skilled maintenance works.

Working across FCHO properties, including occupied homes, void properties and communal areas, you’ll ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

From diagnosing plumbing issues and carrying out repairs to completing general maintenance tasks across supporting trades, specifically joinery works, you’ll provide a professional, customer-focused service that helps keep our customers’ homes safe, secure and well maintained.

The impact you'll make

You’ll help us provide safe, sustainable homes by delivering quality repairs, excellent customer service and reliable maintenance solutions that support our customers and communities.

You will

  • Carry out a wide range of plumbing repairs and maintenance works within customers’ homes, void properties and communal areas.
  • Diagnose and complete repairs efficiently, aiming to complete works during the first visit wherever possible.
  • Carry out plumbing-related repairs including maintenance, replacements, adjustments and remedial works in line with FCHO standards.
  • Complete damp and mould washes and treatments in line with organisational procedures, ensuring safe, thorough and effective completion.
  • Carry out multi-skilled repairs, including supporting joinery and general maintenance tasks.
  • Undertake repairs to kitchens including renewing and refixing kitchen components, adjusting doors, repairing fittings and completing associated maintenance works.
  • Complete repairs to staircases including securing loose treads, risers, handrails and spindles.
  • Carry out fencing and gate repairs including adjusting gates, repairing posts, renewing hinges, latches and fence components.
  • Complete repairs to windows and doors including adjusting hinges, handles, locks, furniture, weather seals, draught excluders and minor glazing repairs.
  • Undertake patch plastering works including float and set, skim finishes, plasterboard repairs and minor crack repairs.
  • Complete silicone sealing, mastic work and other finishing tasks associated with repairs.
  • Carry out inspections, diagnostics and pre-measuring work to identify repair requirements and ensure materials and equipment are available.
  • Maintain accurate records, job updates and photographic evidence using PDA systems and electronic equipment.
  • Carry out self-checks to ensure completed works meet agreed quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Identify and report defects, risks or potential issues that may affect customers, properties or FCHO assets.
  • Work safely and professionally in customers’ homes, ensuring excellent communication and customer care throughout every repair.
  • Support colleagues across the wider repairs service and contribute to a positive, multi-trade working environment.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency repairs service and call-out rota as required.

Multi Skilled Plumber who takes pride in delivering excellent workmanship and providing a great service to customers.

You’ll be confident working independently, managing your own workload and completing repairs safely, efficiently and professionally.

You’ll have

  • Experience carrying out plumbing repairs and maintenance within residential properties or a responsive repairs environment.
  • A relevant construction trade qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Good knowledge and experience of completing multi-skilled repairs alongside your primary trade.
  • Competency in supporting trades, including joinery and general property maintenance tasks.
  • Experience working in occupied and void properties.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, risk assessments, method statements and safe working practices.
  • The ability to diagnose repairs, identify solutions and complete works within agreed timescales.
  • Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • The ability to use a wide range of tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Experience updating electronic records using PDA systems or similar technology.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider repairs team.

It would also be great if you have

  • Experience working within social housing or a housing maintenance environment.
  • Experience using PDA systems or electronic job management systems.
  • Knowledge of asbestos awareness and safe working practices.
  • Experience supporting apprentices, trainees or colleagues through practical guidance.
  • Additional construction trade qualifications.

Qualifications and requirements

You’ll need

  • A relevant trade qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, or equivalent experience demonstrating a high standard of workmanship.
  • UKATA Asbestos Awareness (or willingness to obtain this before employment).
  • A full clean UK driving licence.
  • The ability and willingness to participate in additional working hours, including evening and weekend work, where required.
  • The ability and willingness to participate in the out-of-hours emergency repairs rota.
