About the role
First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) is looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team at an exciting time of transformation. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics, playing a key part in how data is structured, modelled and made available for reporting, insight and decision‑making across the organisation. You’ll work across our current data environment and emerging Microsoft Fabric platform, helping to develop robust data pipelines, analytical datasets and semantic models that underpin trusted KPI reporting and business insight. This is a great opportunity to help shape a modern, insight‑led organisation — supporting both the continuity of critical reporting and the transition to a scalable, future‑ready data platform.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing, building and optimising data pipelines and analytical datasets to support reporting and insight
- Developing and evolving semantic models (Power BI datasets) to enable consistent, trusted KPI reporting
- Working across a hybrid data environment, supporting the transition to Microsoft Fabric
- Structuring and transforming data to ensure quality, consistency and usability
- Optimising queries, pipelines and models to ensure efficient and timely reporting
- Supporting regulatory and statutory reporting (e.g. TSMs, SDR) by aligning data structures to requirements
- Collaborating with BI Analysts to translate business needs into effective data solutions
- Supporting Python‑based analytics processes, including automation and model scoring
- Integrating outputs from analytical and predictive models into reporting and operational systems
- Identifying opportunities to improve automation, efficiency and data processes
- Working closely with Data and ICT teams to align with governance, security and architectural standards
What we’re looking for
- Strong SQL skills (T‑SQL), with the ability to write and optimise queries
- Experience working with data platforms (e.g. data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, ELT approaches)
- Experience with Power BI datasets and data modelling for reporting
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and transformations
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical data solutions
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
It would be great if you also have
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms
- Experience using Python for data analysis or modelling (e.g. Pandas, notebooks)
- Experience supporting KPI frameworks or regulatory reporting
- Exposure to predictive modelling or advanced analytics
- Experience in social housing or a regulated environment
At FCHO, we’re building a modern, insight‑led organisation where data plays a key role in improving services and outcomes for our customers. You’ll be part of a collaborative BI team, working closely with Data and ICT colleagues to shape how data is used across the organisation with real opportunity to influence, innovate and make an impact.
What’s in it for you?
- 37‑hour working week with hybrid working options
- 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- Option to purchase additional annual leave
- Defined contribution pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution
- Private health insurance and healthcare cash plan
- Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 support)
- 24/7 GP access through Doctorline
- Discounts, wellbeing tools and gym membership
- Professional subscriptions paid (where required)
- Enhanced family‑friendly policies
- On‑site wellbeing room and café
- Long service awards
