We’re looking for a Graduate Pricing Innovation Analyst to join our Underwriting team in our Haywards Heath, West Sussex office.

In this role you’ll learn the use of standard tools used in the Pricing & Underwriting Departments (including packages such as SAS, EMBLEM, RADAR, Python). You will also learn analysis techniques (including GLM, decision trees, GBM, random forests, neural networks etc) used in the industry, as well as learning about the Motor Insurance Market and the relevant standards and regulations.

You will use these skills to analyse and build predictive risk models using traditional statistical and machine learning modelling techniques. These will be used to solve key company questions by providing analysis, insight and competitive advantage to the company, producing analysis and reports that maximize customer satisfaction and the probability of the company.

  • Experience in programming (such as Python/R/SQL/SAS/Databricks)

What’s involved:

  • Learn all relevant tools and techniques
  • Production of business analysis reports
  • Ad hoc project work providing analysis to the motor function
  • Maintenance of analysis code using appropriate programming languages.
  • Write new analysis code using appropriate software packages
  • Build predicative models using appropriate software packages
  • Present findings and results in a clear and logical manner; produce written reports
  • Positive manner with ability to communicate well with all colleagues and stakeholders
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2:1 in a numerical undergraduate discipline

Experience

  • MS Office tools (in particular Excel)
  • Statistical techniques
  • Programming experience preferred: SAS/Python/R

  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adopt logical approach to solving problems
  • Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
  • Strong IT Skills (including Excel and ideally programming skills)
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written

  • Broad knowledge of statistical methods and techniques
  • Good knowledge of the motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry after appropriate training
  • Solid understanding of the business objectives and operations
